Annamaria Kowalsky began her violin education at the Conservatory of Carinthia in Klagenfurt with Brian Finlayson. In 2006 she started her viola Master Studies at the Conservatory with Brian Finlayson and Helfried Fister, 2007 she continued with Siegfried Führlinger at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. From 2010 she studied with Thomas Selditz and Viola d‘amore with Gunter Teuffel, and received her Master Degree in 2014.
Annamaria Kowalsky is winner of several competitions as a soloist and chamber musician. Besides her focus on baroque music and participation in various Viennese baroque ensembles, she is working as a chamber musician and principal viola in various orchestras. She worked with renowned musicians such as Andreas Scholl, Helmut Lachenmann, Gustavo Dudamel, Franz Welser-Möst, Bertrand de Billy, Fabio Luisi, Pierre Boulez and Semyon Bychkov.
Besides engagements as a musician she is a sought-after portrait and fine art photographer.
She is currently working on her PhD in Philosophy at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
