Julia Hagen, born in 1995 in Salzburg, started to play the cello at the age of five and had her first cello lessons at the Musikum Salzburg with Mag.Detlef Mielke. At the age of 12 she entered the university „Mozarteum“ to study with Prof. Enrico Bronzi. 2011 she was accepted at the university of music in Vienna. First she studied there with Prof. Reinhard Latzko, then she continued to study with Prof.Heinrich Schiff.
Since 2015 she is a student of J.P.Maintz at the Udk Berlin.
Julia Hagen has won several first and special prices at the competition „Prima la Musica“ in the categories violoncello and chamber music. She was the winner of the international „Liezen Cello competition“ in 2010 and was awarded with the ESTA special prize at the international „Johannes-Brahms-Competition“ in 2014.
At the age of 14 she already played as a soloist with the „Wiener Jeunesse Orchester“ in the „Brucknerhaus“ Linz. From then on she played concerts in Italy, Germany, France and Austria.
She gained a lot of chamber music experience in different formations. Her partners were Ib Hausmann, Matthias Schorn, Lukas Hagen, and others and she was guest at the Beethoven Festival Bonn, at the Allegro Vivo Festival, Diabelli Sommer and the Piatti Festival, Festival Massimo Amfiteatrof Levanto and at the Musiktage Mondsee.
She was invited to take part at the „Angelika Prokopp Sommerakademie“ of the vienna philharmonics andat a chamber music project in Kronberg called „MMM“.
In summer 2015 she was a participant of the „Seiji Ozawa international Academy“.
She took part in masterclasses with Umberto Clerici, Giovanni Gnocchi and C.Bohorquez.
She is playing on a Francesco Ruggieri violoncello, made possible by a private sponsor.
